An existing painted or sealed floor can change the conversation from “Which finish do you like?” to “What is already on the concrete?” A new coating system relies on a compatible, properly prepared substrate. Product and manufacturer guidance consistently treats prior coatings, surface treatments, dirt, oil, and grease as conditions that must be evaluated before new resinous flooring is installed.
