Decorative Inclusions: Why Placement Matters Before Resin Cures
Before embedding flowers, photos, or decorative objects in resin, plan placement, stability, clarity, and the difference between display art and floor systems.

Embedded objects are compelling because they give a resin piece depth and a sense of permanence. They also create decisions that a simple flat pour does not. The object has to be clean, suitable for the resin system, and positioned so it will not float, shift, trap air, or interfere with the intended finish.
The first question is whether the object belongs in the piece at all. A dried flower, printed image, coin, or small decorative item may perform well in a sealed display object, but that does not make it appropriate for a walking surface. Floors experience point loads, abrasion, cleaning chemicals, temperature changes, and routine maintenance. A design that looks excellent in a coaster may become difficult to clean or repair when it is built into a room.
The second question is sequence. Complex objects often require a stabilization step and a plan for how each layer will support the next. If the object moves after resin is introduced, the visual problem may be impossible to correct without starting over. A level work surface, test placement, and a staged plan are more reliable than trying to adjust an object during the pour.
For floor projects, this becomes a design-brief conversation. If you want decorative interest, decide whether it should come from a metallic effect, color variation, flakes, a defined border, or a separate display feature. The right choice is the one that suits how the room will be used and cleaned.
Austin project takeaway. Bring inspiration photos to an estimate, but also explain how the space is used. A good design recommendation balances visual intent with traffic, access, maintenance, and the existing concrete.
