What a Free Estimate Includes

A free estimate is only useful if it tells you what you are actually buying. Ours covers the following.

1. Measurement

We measure the floor area rather than guessing from the number of garage bays. Two "two-car" garages can differ by more than a hundred square feet, and the difference shows up in materials and labor. Steps, curbs, drains, columns and the strip under the garage door are noted separately because they take extra time.

2. Concrete assessment

We look closely at the slab:

3. A system recommendation

Based on how you use the space and what we see in the concrete, we suggest a coating system. That might be an epoxy base with flake and a polyaspartic topcoat, a full polyaspartic system, a quartz system, a metallic epoxy, or a solid-color commercial coating. If more than one option makes sense, the estimate can show each one so you can compare.

4. A written scope and price

The written estimate lists:

Published Price Ranges for Austin

Our homepage lists these ranges, which are a reasonable guide before the visit:

Service Published range Typical install time
1-car garage epoxy $800 – $1,200 1 day
2-car garage epoxy $1,400 – $2,200 1 day
3-car garage epoxy $2,000 – $3,200 1 day
Metallic epoxy $6 – $12 per sq ft 1–2 days
Polyaspartic (same-day) $3 – $7 per sq ft Same day
Commercial epoxy $2 – $5 per sq ft Varies by scope
Free estimate $0 —

The free estimate is where a range becomes a specific number. Where your floor lands in the range depends on what we find during the visit.

What to have ready

How the Visit Works

Most visits take less time than people expect. For a typical garage we spend part of the visit measuring and the rest looking at the concrete and talking with you.

Before we arrive

Clear enough space to see most of the floor if you can. You don't have to empty the garage, but we need to see the condition of the slab, especially near walls and under the area where cars usually park.

During the visit

We will measure, photograph the problem areas, and may do a simple moisture check. We'll ask how you use the space, whether you work with chemicals or solvents, whether the garage door is often open to the sun, and how quickly you need the floor back.

After the visit

You will receive a written estimate. If you have questions, call or text and we will walk through it line by line.

Polyaspartic vs Epoxy: What the Estimate Will Compare

A lot of Austin homeowners ask for a free estimate because they want help choosing between polyaspartic and epoxy. Here is how we explain the trade-off in an estimate.

Factor Epoxy Polyaspartic
Cure speed Slower; usually longer before vehicles Fast; often back in use much sooner
Color stability in sunlight Can yellow over time Holds color well
Build and filling Builds thick and fills minor surface flaws Thinner coats; cures quickly
Installation window More working time Short working time; needs experienced crew
Typical role Base coat and body coats Topcoat or full fast-cure system

Many garage floors use both: an epoxy base coat for bonding and build, flake broadcast for texture and appearance, and a polyaspartic topcoat for faster cure and better color stability. Our polyaspartic vs epoxy guide goes into more depth.

Quartz and Flake Options in the Estimate

If slip resistance or texture is important, the estimate may include a broadcast system.

The estimate will note how much of the floor is covered (partial or full broadcast) and what topcoat seals it, because those two choices affect both texture and price.

Free Estimates for Commercial Floors

Commercial estimates follow the same steps with more detail. We need to know about traffic (foot, carts, pallet jacks, forklifts), chemical and water exposure, temperature, operating hours, and any written specification. Some facilities, such as electronics assembly areas, labs or server rooms, need static-control flooring, which we cover on our ESD flooring page.

Commercial estimates usually include:

Where We Provide Free Estimates

Austin

Austin is our home base, and most free estimates are for Austin properties. The city sits mostly in Travis County, with older central neighborhoods, postwar suburbs and fast-growing subdivisions at the edges. Expansive clay soils across much of the area cause slab movement and cracking, summer heat affects how coatings are installed, and moisture coming up through older slabs is a common cause of coating failure. Each of those shows up in our estimates as a specific line item when it applies, rather than a vague allowance.

Georgetown

We also provide free estimates in Georgetown, the seat of Williamson County north of Austin. Georgetown has many newer homes with two- and three-car garages and a large retiree community. Ground conditions range from rocky limestone to clay, so we check each slab rather than assuming. See our epoxy flooring Georgetown TX page.

If you are outside Austin and Georgetown, call and ask. We will tell you honestly whether the project is a fit.

How to Compare Free Estimates

Getting more than one estimate is sensible. To compare them fairly, check:

  1. Is preparation spelled out? Diamond grinding is the usual standard for good adhesion. Acid etching alone is less reliable on many slabs.
  2. Are crack repairs included? And if so, which ones?
  3. How many layers, and what are they? "Epoxy floor" can mean anything from one thin coat to a multi-layer system.
  4. What is the topcoat? It is the layer that takes the wear.
  5. What is the schedule and cure time? When can you walk on it, and when can you drive on it?
  6. What is excluded? Moving stored items, stem walls, steps and major repairs are common exclusions.
  7. Is the price total and in writing?

An estimate that is noticeably cheaper often leaves something out, such as grinding or the topcoat. Ask about it.

Common Reasons a Price Changes After the Estimate

We try to make the written estimate the price you pay. A change is only discussed when something couldn't reasonably be seen during the visit, such as:

If anything like this comes up, we stop and talk with you before doing more work.

Scheduling After the Estimate

Once you accept an estimate, we schedule around three things: weather, cure time and your plans. Coatings are sensitive to temperature and humidity, so summer work is usually planned early in the day. We'll tell you how long to keep foot traffic and vehicles off the floor and what to move out beforehand.

Free Estimates by Type of Space

Different spaces lead to different recommendations, so here is what the estimate usually focuses on for the most common requests.

Attached garages

The main concerns are hot tire pickup, oil and fluid drips, and the slab edge at the garage door, where water and road grit collect. Estimates for attached garages usually include grinding, crack repair, a flake or solid system, and a topcoat chosen for heat and sunlight. We also note the step into the house and any stem walls, because coating them is optional and affects the price.

Detached garages and workshops

Detached garages in older Austin neighborhoods are often older slabs with more cracking, uneven areas and past paint. Workshops add dropped tools, rolling equipment and spilled solvents. The estimate will say whether the system is suited to the chemicals you use, so tell us what you work with.

Home gyms

Gym floors take dropped weights and constant foot traffic. Coatings are usually paired with rubber mats in lifting areas. The estimate will separate coated areas from areas you plan to cover, so you are not paying for finish nobody will see.

Patios and covered outdoor areas

Outdoor concrete faces direct sun, rain and temperature swings. Color-stable topcoats matter more here, and slip resistance matters when the surface is wet. Some outdoor slabs are not good candidates for a coating at all, and we will tell you if that is the case.

Interior floors and living spaces

Metallic epoxy and solid colors are popular for interior floors, studios and converted spaces. These floors show imperfections more than flake floors do, so the estimate puts extra weight on preparation and patching.

Questions to Ask During the Visit

The visit is your chance to ask questions as well as answer them. Useful ones include: How will you handle the crack near the door? What happens if moisture readings are high? Which layer gives the floor its slip resistance? How should I clean it, and what should I avoid? How long before I can park a car on it in this season? Good answers to these questions tell you as much about an installer as the price does.

Planning Your Estimate Around the Seasons

Central Texas weather affects when coating work is easiest to schedule. Spring and fall are popular because temperatures are moderate. Summer projects are planned early in the day, which is one reason our crews start early. Winter cold snaps can slow cure times, so we watch the forecast and adjust. Requesting your free estimate a few weeks before you want the work done gives you time to compare options and pick dates that suit both the weather and your household or business schedule.

Our Hours

We are open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Call or text any time, and we respond the same day.

Customer Feedback

Austin Epoxy Flooring Pro has a 5.0 rating on Google. If you are reading reviews before asking for an estimate, look for comments about preparation, communication and how the floor has held up, not only the look on installation day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the epoxy flooring estimate really free?

Yes. There is no charge for the visit or the written estimate, and no obligation to go ahead.

How do I get a free epoxy flooring estimate in Austin TX?

Call or text (512) 325-5434 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, or use the free estimate form on our website.

What does a two-car garage cost in Austin?

Our published range is $1,400–$2,200. The written estimate sets the exact price after we see the concrete.

Do you need to see the floor in person?

For most projects, yes. Photos help us prepare, but cracks, old coatings and moisture can only be judged reliably on site.

Will the estimate compare polyaspartic and epoxy?

If both make sense for your floor, the estimate can show each option with its own schedule and price.

What areas do you give free estimates in?

Austin and Georgetown, Texas.

How long is the estimate valid?

The written estimate states how long the price holds. Material costs and our schedule can change, so ask if you need more time.

Do you give commercial estimates too?

Yes. Commercial estimates include areas, systems, phasing and a schedule tied to cure times.
